There's no chakra hierarchy - all are important.
It’s All about Balance
When it comes to chakras, there seems to be a misconception that the higher chakras - throat, third eye, and crown - are somehow more elusive and “better” than the lower ones - solar plexus, sacral and root. I sometimes observe a misconception that our very spirituality itself seems to be linked to the upper chakras which seem to represent for some people an attainment of enlightenment.
There are 114 chakras in our system which relate to a wheel – but for this discussion I am referring to the 7 main chakras: crown, third eye, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral and root. They all have a function and purpose. The Bag Lady has an entire section in the store devoted to this, because understanding it can be beneficial to our energy system.
Our energy system works as a whole and that is why higher is not better. If someone you know has a very open crown chakra and can see into different dimensions – it doesn’t mean they are more spiritual than you. We are all spirits – every one of us. And we all have our own gifts. Imagine this, suppose someone has a very open crown chakra and feels “blissed” out all the time - if they aren’t grounded in their root chakra as well, they could walk out in to the street and being unaware, get hit by a car. While that is an extreme example, it’s meant to illustrate a point. Our energy system and fields need to be balanced.
Everyone is out of balance from time to time – that’s natural. When we can locate what is out of balance we can then work with the pattern that is causing it and correct it. So look at what might be out of balance in your life. It might be in the area of relationships (which could involve several chakras) or you might be struggling with financial and job issues (root) or maybe everything is going well and you do want to work with meditating and tuning your third eye. All of these are perfectly good and fine. Because we are all individuals with our own unique experiences and needs – no two people will have the same energy system, so please don’t compare yourself with someone else that you think might be more “advanced.” We are all working at the exact place that we need to be.
Higher isn’t better. Balance is the key. When we are balanced we can then give more of ourselves to others. We can connect from the heart to the world around us and we can share our gifts, the gifts we came into this world bearing. When we do that, we are being of the highest service to ourselves and to the universe. That is very spiritual.
So ask yourself today – where might I be out of balance? What chakra is speaking to me and needs my attention? What can I do to bring myself into a greater alignment and harmony with myself and others? How can I best get in to the flow of life? Because at the end of the day, isn’t that what we all want? And isn’t that really the road to enlightenment?
